Ethiopian Cabbage is a multipurpose brassica cultivar bred for use in biofumigation systems because of its glucosinilate compounds. However, it has proven to be valuable in other systems such as cover cropping and grazing. When spring planted in continental climates, Ethiopian Cabbage germinates quickly and grows to maturity within 40 days. When summer and fall planted on the west coast, Ethiopian Cabbage is relatively drought and heat tolerant. It will produce significant cool season quality and biomass in warm summer conditions.

With its rapid forage regrowth, livestock producers can get up to four grazing periods on this leafy, non-bulbing, turnip hybrid. Hunter forage brassica provides great forage for whitetail deer and can be planted alone or in a mix for high yielding food plots.

Barkant turnips are an early maturing turnip with high concentrations of protein and yields in the leaf forage. 60-90 days for maturity. Leaves will be browsed well into the fall and deer will dig for the root in late fall or winter. This turnip is a great option to add in a fall brassica plot to add variety.
